For all eBook readers out there, Watch Them Wander is available absolutely free today on Kindle and other retailers. And it is the first in a three book Young Adult Post-Apocalyptic/Dystopian Series I have written called The Colossus of Rhodes Series.
It features a teenage girl named Samantha Rhodes who has wandered a post-apocalyptic desert wasteland since her war-torn childhood, until the day she finds an animatronic genie in the sand capable of reversing her fortunes, and fulfilling her wildest wishes.
After a chance encounter with a starving stranger named Ryder begging for help from a distant village, Samantha and her genie Adam rediscover the outside oases in all their revenge-driven brutality. And from the curious way the lizards and birds watch her with glassy eyes, the way the stars in the sky grow exponentially in number during nights of tragedy, and the way captured raiders whisper of a blue goddess wandering in the darkness, Samantha finds herself drawn deeper into a superstitious world filled more with mystery than with terror. And within the wreckage of secret, ancient tunnels beneath the moonlit sands, Samantha discovers why the god of her oasis has given her a magical, weaponized genie.
Along with the frightening truth about the stars in their midnight skies.
I made Watch Them Wander free as a token of goodwill to prospective readers, as I know it can be difficult to take a chance on a new indie author without prior exposure. And I’m grateful that the story’s reception thus far has been largely positive.
As a separate sidenote, my apologies for completely disappearing for a while.
My WordPress followers had disappeared earlier this year after I did a hosting transfer to Siteground from my old oscarrelentos.wordpress.com blog. But I recently was very kindly helped by WordPress staff to get my subscribers back. So I hope that helps me get this message out to some of those who have followed my writing in the past. I may repost it periodically to ensure those who missed it in their feeds get a second chance to see it, just a polite heads up on that. I’m uncertain how exactly things will operate with the new hosting setup, but I’m hopeful at least some people who have been following my writing over the years will see this post.
The story is driven by a strong sub-element of mystery throughout, and touches on some darker aspects of the human condition, though the tone is often quite light-hearted. So I hope it appeals to a wider readership than just the target Young Adult readership I am seeking to explore with these books. For those interested in the series who don’t prefer eBooks, the series is also available in paperback.
Again, I would like to reiterate that the eBook for Watch Them Wander is completely free on all retailers, and I hope it brings many avid readers like yourself enjoyment for many years to come =]
